The informal combination of scientific and artistic work and life marks the unique character of the HWK as a place of research and education, of inspiration and communication - not only between the different sciences, but especially between them and the various arts. This reciprocal communication between generally separate domains of cultural life creates new "spaces of thought (DenkRäume)".
“I believe I gained as much from my discussions with artists and writers as I did from my conversations with natural scientists. The artists and writers that I met at the HWK encouraged me to see new connections, look at things in new ways, and appreciate the humanistic dimensions of my own work.”
