Ear-Level Sensing for Brain Health

04. April 2024 - 05. April 2024

Recent advances in wearable sensing technology hold great promise in tackling fundamental health challenges of our societies. Very soon, it will be possible to wear miniaturized sensors in and around the ear - unobtrusively and near chronically. In contrast to sensors worn at other body parts (e.g., smartwatches), ear-worn sensors have direct access to sensing brain signals. Accordingly, they can provide richer and more accurate information. We propose that future miniaturized ear-worn sensing technologies have the potential to support individuals in achieving good brain health across their lifespan. The goal of the DTN application is to realise this potential, by educating the next generation of top-level, multidisciplinary researchers in all aspects related to ear-level sensing. This multidisciplinary network is well equipped with expertise from various disciplines, including electrical engineering, data science, regulation and ethics, psychology, computer science, medicine, and health services research.

The overall objective of this workshop is to develop a joint vision for the Doctoral Training Network; outlining the specific structure of the application proposal; identifying project and training areas; and developing a workplan for the development of the application. Below a breakdown of the detailed agenda for the two days.
