The Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg will be 25 years old in 2022. More precisely, October 13, 2022 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the festive opening of the Wissenschaftskolleg. The Kolleg's team, cooperation partners, friends, and guests will celebrate the birthday together this year at a series of anniversary events to which we cordially invite you:
Under the title "Science and Society: The History of a Complicated Relationship," the Wissenschaftskolleg invites you to three anniversary lectures in September 2022. One of them will take place in Delmenhorst's Markthalle.The three lectures are dedicated to the basic questions of science in and with society: Why do we want to "know" at all? Why do we as a society need the sciences? Is there a natural tension between social and scientific interests and what does it consist of? Where do politics and scientific research meet and why is this encounter apparently so often marked by misunderstandings?

Open Day "Scientists at Work
The Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg invites you, your children, and your family to an open house at Lehmkuhlenbusch on September 24, 2022 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Experience the exciting projects of some of the most renowned scholars who have conducted research at the Wissenschaftskolleg over the past 25 years in vivid presentations.
Time and place: September 24, 2022, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the HWK, Lehmkuhlenbusch 4, Delmenhorst
The Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg opens its doors to citizens of Delmenhorst, the region and other interested parties. Exhibitions and lectures provide an insight into the history, activities and goals of the Wissenschaftskolleg, but above all into the life and work of the researchers working at the institute. Under the motto "Scientists at Work," scientists associated with the Wissenschaftskolleg will provide insight into the fascination of their research topics and the reality of their everyday work in an exciting and generally understandable way.
The event takes place in cooperation with Delmenhorst educational institutions.
Snacks and drinks will be provided.
The team of the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg welcomes cooperation partners, state politicians, friends and guests of the house and companions on its development path to an evening reception with musical and light-artistic accompaniment on October 13, 2022 at the Lehmkuhlenbusch.
The filigree and airy piece "a e r i" by the Ganderkese composer Hans-Joachim Hespos for two violins will be performed, which the composer eavesdropped on the birds in his garden. The performance transforms the HWK's Fireside Room into a birdhouse. The light artists RaumZeitPiraten will decorate the exterior walls of the HWK with large-scale light imagery, while the sounds of the two violinists will be heard through the open doors of the fireplace room. The project was created under the scientific supervision of HWK Fellow, neuroscientist and ornithologist Prof. Mark Hauber of the University of Illinois.

Hans-Joachim Hespos †
The composer from Ganderkese composed over 200 works for solo, chamber music, ensemble, orchestra, choir, radio, electroacoustics, film, electronics, stage, scene. As a compositional autodidact, Hespos did not attach importance to any kind of conformity. His work can hardly be classified. What his compositions have in common is that they are oriented towards extreme musical situations. His imaginative word creations are especially well known.
Lisa Werhahn (violin)
Bremen-based violinist Lisa Werhahn focuses her work on new music and chamber music. Lisa Werhahn studied in Berlin at the UdK with Isabelle Faust, among others. Performances have taken her to international festivals such as the Berliner Festspiele Märzmusik, the huddersfield contemporary music festival, the Klangspuren Hannover and to the Sprengel Museum. She is also active in the field of early music with the lautten compagney BERLIN.
RaumZeitPiraten
The RaumZeitPiraten are an artist collective of Tobias Daemgen, Jan Ehlen and Moritz Ellerich. In 2007 they started working as an art collective. With their site-specific multimedia installations, interventions and happenings, the RaumZeitPiraten design ephemeral models of imperfect human-machine counterworlds with which they question calculated realities and machine-dominated behavior.
Academic Event "Stability in Regional Energy Supply"
The event is sponsored by the Delmenhorst University Society and the Association of Friends and Sponsors of the HWK on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg.
Time and place: June 15 and 16, 2023 at the HWK, Lehmkuhlenbusch 4, Delmenhorst.
Under the scientific leadership of Prof. Carsten Agert from the DLR Institute for Networked Energy Systems, Oldenburg, and Prof. Johanna Myrzik from the University of Bremen, the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg will host a scientific event with national and international participation on the topic of "Energy Systems Stability 2050 and Beyond - Technoeconomic Forum". In a subsequent public information and discussion event on the topic of "Energy Supply Stability in the Region", participants of the expert event will discuss the local relevance of the topic together with representatives of regional industry and the interested public.
Anniversary Publication "25 Years Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg"
On October 13, 2022, the anniversary publication "25 Years of the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg" will be presented to the public at the anniversary reception. The approximately 200-page publication will look back at the origins and conditions of the Wissenschaftskolleg and seek to trace its development. In addition, invited authors will devote detailed essays to individual topics of particular importance to the Wissenschaftskolleg.
